Rooted Creates an Environment for Life Change

Rooted Creates an Environment for Life Change

How much can really change in 10 weeks?

The average time it takes to establish a new habit is 66 days. For some people, it can take as little as 18 days, while for others it takes months to build a consistent rhythm. The 10-week Rooted experience is intentionally designed around this window to help your people connect deeply with God, their church, and their purpose.

At the core of Rooted is a commitment to establishing a daily devotion. When believers are grounded in the Word, they no longer rely solely on a Sunday sermon or someone else's interpretation of Scripture. Instead, they encounter God directly through His Word each day.

Social Accountability Drives Longevity

While a highly self-motivated person might build a discipline alone, true longevity in spiritual growth comes from community. Rooted bridges individual practice with communal connection. Daily devotionals (taking just 15 to 20 minutes) feed directly into weekly small group discussions. As group members share what God revealed to them in the same passages, they gain fresh perspectives and build the bonds that keep people engaged in the local church long after the 10 weeks end. We strongly recommend making daily devotions a crucial part of small groups long term.

Palatable Daily Moments

When people get excited about a new season; whether in faith, fitness, or relationships, they often jump all-in, burn out, and drop off after a couple of weeks. Rooted challenges this natural human tendency by offering bite-sized, daily wins. Daily devotions create a sustainable rhythm of Scripture reading, prayer, journaling and reflection.

Once this daily foundation is established, other crucial spiritual rhythms naturally follow. Generosity, financial tithing, serving, and active church engagement aren't forced mandates; they are the natural outflows of a heart in daily communion with God.

Connecting People With Their Creator

This past session of Rooted, a man in his 50s was invited to join a Rooted group by a family. I had the privilege of facilitating his group. No amount of facts, convincing, logical or apologetics had "convinced" this man over the past few decades to seek God. Through the first two weeks his arms went from folded to open as he opened the Word and his mind to hearing from God. A week after Rooted finished he said, "Yes" to Jesus as Lord and Savior and walked out his decision of salvation in front of his new church family.

As pastors and ministry leaders, our primary calling is to guide people to the cross—not just so they know about God, but so they actually experience Him. Rooted unpacks the seven rhythms of a disciple. Whether someone is brand new to faith or has followed Christ for decades, this framework meets them right where they are and moves them forward together.
