So much of what makes a 10-week Rooted experience great for our people comes from the work of our amazing facilitators. We could not offer Rooted without facilitators, and are indebted to them for generously sharing their time and talents with us as a church. They are the glue that helps groups connect, creating environments where life-changing conversations and experiences can take place.
Beyond showing up for our training and facilitating healthy conversations, there are 3 practices that our best facilitators have in common, and with a little coaching from us, all of our facilitators can begin to do these things if they are not already.
- Take Notes Each Week
The best facilitators take notes each and every week about what each person shares, what people ask for prayer about, and who experiences what throughout the 10-week experience. These notes can be used to encourage and affirm spiritual growth through private conversations, text messages mid-week, and later during the celebration as a handwritten card.
- Take Pictures
Pictures of the group praying, serving, laughing and growing together are powerful! These can be used during the celebration and weekend services to allow everyone to remember the spiritual growth of the group, as well as visually show others who have not yet gone through Rooted the type of impact this experience can have.
- Know Your People’s Next Steps
Throughout Rooted, our prayer is that every person will take next steps closer to Jesus through the rhythms and experiences. Everybody has a next step, and when we can help our Rooted participants, through prayer and encouragement, we can help people discern their next step and take it. Chances are, many of our Rooted participants have tried to fast, have a daily devotion, or begin giving, but experienced failure. The reason might have been due to trying to take this step alone, as opposed to the type of encouragement and accountability a Rooted group and facilitator can provide!
