Stories of life-change are powerful, but sharing them in a church can be complicated. Because sharing stories is such a central part of the Rooted experience, we are grateful to have found a Rooted church with a simple, meaningful approach to creating testimony videos from Rooted graduates and we want to share their wisdom with you. Here are 6 steps to create a Rooted story video.
- Aim for an inspirational and motivational tone.
- The intended audience for these videos are people in your church or community with limited or no awareness of what Rooted is. The content should not assume knowledge, but help people want to register for the Rooted experience. The goal is for people to learn more. - Plan for 2-5 minutes of testimonies.
- Shoot single individuals or couples with a single camera (even an iPhone will do), interview style. Ideally, there should be 4-6 individuals or couples, each sharing answers to the same questions.
- Edit the footage to show different people answering a series of questions related to Rooted, with each person sharing their own experience.
- The result is a video which showcases the personal spiritual journey each person had through Rooted. - Ask each individual or couple the following questions (or similar questions that work for you):
- In your own words, what is Rooted?
- What made you want to do Rooted?
- What did God show you during Rooted?
- How has God changed your life through Rooted?
- What would you say to someone considering signing up for Rooted?
- Show each question on screen to move the video along, followed by the individual, edited answers to each question.
